PROJECT INFO

Living with a critical condition

Applied Medical Technology has been a pioneering force within the medical device market for over 30 years. AMT’s innovative enteral feeding products allow patients with gastrointestinal conditions to ingest the nutrients they require.

Many of Applied Medical’s patients are young children who need assistance from a family member or caregiver to properly use and maintain their feeding devices.

Family members and caregivers rely on product guides, instructional videos, FAQs, and other educational materials to effectively render assistance. Before engaging with Infinum, these materials were not easily accessible on mobile devices.

Educational tools that improve patients’ life standard

Quick and easy access to important device information and educational content is critical to ensuring patient safety and adherence.

The cross-platform AMT ONE Source app provides clear and concise resources for caregivers, available on Android or iOS devices.

PROJECT GOALS

Removing stigma from medical devices

Medical devices have a tendency to evoke fear, which can lead to avoidance and potential device neglect. AMT wanted to remove barriers to use and destigmatize their products in the eyes of pediatric patients.

Device adoption through gamification

AMT wanted to introduce a gaming component featuring device images in a playful manner. We helped build a coloring book and emoji creator which made the app less intimidating and got patients acquainted with devices while having fun.

Quick access to content on iOS and Android

The app is a content hub for patients and caregivers, allowing for quick and easy access to PDFs, videos, and other educational materials stored within AMT’s content management system.

FROM VISION TO PRODUCT

AMT approached us with a clear vision for the product. After sharing the requirements and brand guidelines, we provided a complete roadmap for app design and development.

PROJECT PHASES

Result-driven design approach

When creating the designs, we worked with the client to align the aesthetic with their branding and overall vision. We leaned on Applied Medical’s expert advice and customer knowledge to create a simple, intuitive interface that accommodates the specific needs of patients, parents, and caregivers.

Two platforms, one codebase

We kicked off the engineering phase by reviewing the proposed app information architecture. The client emphasized they wanted to manage the data and information from a central content store. We updated the database structure so it could be shared and synchronized across the website and mobile apps.

THE PROCESS

A dedicated team

We assembled a dedicated team and employed an Agile approach with daily stand-ups to ensure we’re meeting the project deadlines. We released regular test builds via our internal app repository, allowing us and the client to collaborate and streamline the feedback cycle.

Remote-first collaboration

The collaboration with AMT was entirely remote. We met regularly via video conference and leveraged Productive, Slack, and e-mail for daily coordination.

Marrying the client’s industry-specific knowledge with our technological expertise made the collaboration super-efficient. The result is a digital product delivered within client expectations and budget.
